A bit about me — I’m Lynsey van Aswegen, and I’m passionate about dance education. With a degree in Education from the University of Cambridge, I learned to teach dance alongside a career in finance. Even while training in finance, I always knew teaching dance was what I truly wanted to do, there’s just something about sharing the joy, movement and growth that dance brings that I’ve always loved.

After a decade of teaching, running my own school, and taking a lot of training courses, I realised a few key things:

• There are many educational theory resources for classroom teachers, but few tailored to dance teachers.

• Being properly qualified is crucial, but right now, anyone can call themselves a dance teacher.

• Dance offers benefits far beyond just learning the steps!
